Less than 180 Days …
Let the countdown begin … the Lord grant us speed and gather our brethren together that we may sharpen ourselves and strengthen the fellowship.
Happy New Year – 2016! – Arise, Shine!
Happy New 2016 to all our brethren all over the world!
We celebrate the grace to see a new year despite the lows and highs of 2015. In all things we give thanks! We celebrate the prospects of attaining our goals in our walk in Christ, our careers and ministry in the new year. A year the weak will rise, the fallen finds the rock to stay, the weary finds new strength and the strengthened standing in Him. The creation is ever more ready for the manifestation of the sons of God. Let’s Arise, Shine despite it all.
We speak into the new year, may 2016 be one of strength, increased grace and favor. May we all rise, shine in all areas of our lives – at home, in ministry and in the marketplace.
Happy New Year!

REUNION 2016: I Must Attend!
REUNION ’90 was the first one I took part in. God is faithful. 2016 is another REUNION year here in North America and in Nigeria. The fellowship has come a long way. May the Lord continue to grant counsel and wisdom to build the Alumni Fellowship. The fellowship creates a forum to sharpen one another like we did in the past, reminding ourselves that despite how much our lives have changed or increased, what was important then is still important now. Keeping the vision. Are we still a light in this dark world? We need to continue to rise when or from where we fall, and stand when we stand. The world is still waiting… The picture was a drama about redeeming the time. Imagine, that picture is 25 years old.
Let’s plan to attend the upcoming the REUNION events. It is an opportunity to sharpen ourselves. Set aside the time, come and be blessed with teachings in season not colored by the complicated realities of our time but with the purpose we are called into.

2:00PM to 4:00PM CST – Jesus Time
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in whom we are sealed till the day of redemption. We are ever so grateful for His infinite love and Grace to each member of our chapter in North America. God has been good through valleys raised, mountains leveled and the crooked paths made straight. How wonderful is the God we have. He gives us hope and confidence in a world many are shaken with the ever endless stream of unsettling news. Jesus promised He will never leave us or forsake us. He will be with us till the end of time. I celebrate the constant assurance that in Him we Iive, we move and have our being.
In the Spring we met our brethren in their various communities such as Saskatoon, Airdrie, Brampton, Houston and Chicago. Other Meetings are planned such as Baltimore, Los Angeles in the fall. But it is time to meet as one chapter this Saturday – July 25, 2015. The Houston brethren are hosting the meeting. We invite brethren from all over Texas to attend in-person while those of us far off in other cities in the United States and Canada can dial in through the fellowship’s conference bridge or Google Hangout. I am excited to be attending in-person to enjoy the fellowship of the fast growing Houston Branch.
This is a 2 hour meeting and would feature a special guest – Ann Badmus who is an immigration attorney and a friend of the fellowship. She will be flying to attend the meeting so we hope that Houston will make a good showing. This meeting will also feature the launch of our REUNION 2016 drive. There is so much to share at this meeting and we do hope you will all mark your calendars and join us.
Pray and plan to be at the meeting. Pray for the leadership of the fellowship and the brethren. For more information, please reach out to Bro. Michael Araba – maraba@ivcuaf.org, (740) 835-4828) or Bro. Ebenezer Nweke – Branch Coordinator – (832) 289-0506 – NWEKEBEN@yahoo.com.

REUNION 2012 Update – August 10, 2012
Calvary greetings from the National Executive Members in the Name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
It gladden our hearts to inform you that the long awaited IVCU New bus has arrived and it has been presented to the IVCU fellowship on Wednesday the 8th of August 2012. The bus is a brand new Toyota 18-seat bus at a cost of N6.1 Million. We felt short of the original intent to buy a 32-seat due to the continuous rise in the price and the length of time it has taken to raise funds. We give thanks to God for this and pray that God will yet provide the bigger bus desired.
Many thanks to all who gave sacrificially towards the realization of this dream. Some brethren upon hearing the news of the purchase of the bus pledged to send in their financial commitment towards the project to be counted as part of the success story; we see this as very encouraging.

Praise the Lord! We celebrate the long waited miracle birth of Adeigbagbooluwa Oluwalonimi into the family of the Jolaoshos. Our sister Alaba delivered Adeigbagbooluwa Oluwalonimi on May 4th, 2012 at 12:03PM with the baby weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces.
We celebrate with the family as this has been 11 years of waiting for the Lord to honor their desire to have a second child. May the testimonies of God’s faithfulness and blessing abide with the child and family in Jesus Name!

Meet & Greet in the “City of many trails”
The city of Calgary witnessed the coming together of members of the IVCUAF on Saturday 19th May on the premises of the First Assembly Church in Calgary, Alberta.
It turned out to be a mini-reunion of sorts as some brethren who had parted ways many years ago were united to share fellowship and visit with one another.
Present were, Femi Farinu, Jimmy Abodunwa, Ayotunde Aina, Dupe Greg-Alabi, Yewande Ayoade (and husband Daniel Ayoade), Biodun Adeniran, Segun Bamijoko. Mike Araba and Adeoye Adegorite also came in from Cleveland, Ohio and Brampton, Ontario respectively.
It was a warm and friendly atmosphere where everyone spoke of the glorious times and experiences at IVCU as well as how their various journeys had progressed since then.
Bro Michael Araba shared the vision of the IVCUAF for North America and created awareness on upcoming activities and encouraged attendees to be aware that there were other little IVCUAF cells springing up all over the North American continent, drawing parallels to the story of Elijah in 1 kings 18:22 urging everyone not to believe like Elijah did, that they were the only ones left wherever they found themselves on the North American Continent. He emphasized that God’s purpose was being fulfilled through this slow but vibrant movement that was being formed.
The meeting rounded up with photographs, refreshments and much “fellowship after fellowship”.

IVCU North America 2012!
It’s another reunion year!!! We thank God for His faithfulness. It is like only yesterday we celebrated the 50th anniversary of IVCU’s establishment as a student Christian fellowship on University of Ibadan’s campus. For many of us IVCU was the spiritual nursery that established our faith walk and formed the very foundation of who we are in Christ today. Those IVCU days are now long gone clearing the way for our faith to be tested and proven in the fire of life. Paul encouraged Timothy to fight the good fight of faith which echoes the essence of the IVCU’s motto “keeping the vision”. We are called to shine as light in this depraved world as we live our lives in the presence of such a great cloud of witnesses watching for the manifestation of God’s glory through us.
I stated earlier this is a REUNION year and the chosen theme is “Behold He cometh…”. It begs the question, are we ready for His return? Are we winning the everyday battle of living for Christ? As you ponder on the questions, we ask you to prepare and plan to participate in person or online. This year as a chapter we intend to participate as much as are able to the REUNION. The alumni is pledging to buy IVCU a new bus. The old buses have become “old old faithfuls” but desperately needing our faith to be put to work. The steering committee for North America is encouraging everyone to take part in fulfilling this pledge. The steering committee launched this year with great excitement and expectation of what God would do through us. We have since grown as a committee in working together as a small army of brethren committed to the vision of the Alumni Fellowship in North America. The committee is made of up 12 members located across North America:
• Michael Araba – Cleveland, Ohio – USA • Funmi Okhiria – South Bend, Indiana, USA
• Dave Ariyibi – Maryland, USA • Doyin Oyenuga (Secretary) – Burlington, Canada
• Deoye Adegorite – Toronto, Canada • Rotimi Akinbusuyi – Chicago, IL
• Segun Bamijoko, Calgary, Canada • Biodun Adeniran – Calgary, Canada
• Bamidele Tayo – Chicago, USA • Ibukun Olotu – Phoenix, Arizona
• Authority Ugbenin – Newark, NJ • Wole Ariyo – Columbia, SC
I also thank every committee member for their support since the launch of the chapter summer 2011. They have since sown much of their time, talents and treasure to keep the work going. We also want to thank everyone who has responded when we called or reached out. We were able to do much last year with organizing two events one Baltimore, MD and Brampton, ON Canada. But the vision is great and we intend to do more this year. Earlier in January we sent out fridge magnet business cards and 2012 Calendars to everyone that has registered with the chapter. If you like to get our business card magnets and 2012 calendar please forward your request to me at maraba@ivcuaf.org with your full name, cell # and mailing address.
The committee identified 5 goals to guide our operations for the year as follows:
1. Organize Meet & Greet Events in new areas
2. Online Communication
- Improve Website / Assist with launch of IVCU Student Website Launch
- Launch Digital Library
- Improve Membership Communication online
- Enable Online Donations
3. Establish a Membership Directory
4. Register as a Non-Profit in North America
5. Participate in the REUNION 2012

We are together Again! – Maryland (2012)
It was another wonderful and nostalgic day last Saturday May 5, 2012 when we had the IVCUAF Meet & Greet in Hyattsville MD at the New Covenant Church under the leadership of Pastor Bunmi Ogunsan. Members in attendance included the Ariyibis (Bro. Dave, Sis. Dayo and Adedamola), Pastor Bunmi Ogunsan the host, Sis. Yomi Bakare, Pastor Aikulola, Bro. Mike Araba and Bro Gabriel Olofinsawo. We had a good time of recounting our several experiences while on campus and sharing what the fellowship actually mean to us.
Members also shared the relevance of the Alumni Fellowship to every member in the Diaspora. Bro Mike the National Coordinator gave a run-down of events and plan for the year. We all left the meeting with renewed interest and desire to spread the word around to others who are yet to come on board.
Several events have been planned for the year 2012, just check the fellowship website and get informed.
The Lord bless you.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Segun Awe
The steering committee of the IVCU North America chapter congratulates the new family – Mr. & Mrs. Segun Awe on their wedding recently held in Ibadan, Nigeria. Bro. Segun is a member of the North America chapter. We pray for the Lord’s blessing on their marriage. May the new home be firmly footed on the Rock that never fails.
Shalom! Friends
This year we are expecting at least two families to join us sometime this spring. This is cause for joy and excitement for us in the chapter as the Lord’s adds to us. In the same way we thank the Lord for the family of Dr. & Dr. (Mrs.) Ojurongbe leaving for Nigeria. Their sojourn in Germany have come to a celebratory close. They have been part of our chapter fellowship online and while resident in Europe.
We pray that the Lord establish their ways as they head home to Nigeria to continue their work of giving to the society through their academic endeavors. We thank you for your support right from inception.
We wish you well hope to see you soon.

Constantly Remembering that We are Pilgrims here on Earth!
But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding – Job 32:8

Back in time (early 90s), IVCU choir used to sing a song amidst other songs during the yearly finalists commissioning. The song (in Yoruba language) goes thus:
Ìwo máse bèrù, Dúró do
Dì rò mó Jésù, Áá dára fún o
Dúró o, Dúró o, dákun yé ò …
Then, we used to act it on stage (choreography) while singing the song with the beautiful mass choir effect! The song was often so melodious, inspirational and emotional, especially for every finalist, who had faithfully been under the tutelage of God’s Spirit in the House hold of IVCU.
As a choir leader in 1994, the weight of the message of this song was greatly done on me shortly after the death of our dear Late Prof. Gbola Durojaiye, who in his message at the finalist dinner in 1994 (held at Queens hall) referred to that song as pilgrim’s song, urging every finalist to always remember that we are all pilgrims here on earth. In just a few months after, the man joined the great cloud of witnesses. During his line-in-state, the wordings of that song rushed through my mind as I looked at his face with warm tears dripping down my face and I promised God that I will hold unto Him, even in the face of trials and temptation.
It is amazing where God picked us all from! He is the Lord who remembered us in our low estate (Psalm 136:23) by the reviving strength of His mercy. Let all hearts be bowed before the Lord our God, from whom all blessings flow. To Him alone be all the glory and honour for even giving us life, sustaining everyone of us, all the way by the power of His might.
Yet, there are greater victories and better life ahead. Because of the fullness of His grace, have we all received one blessing after another John 1:16 (NIV). The Lord will cause us all to walk worthy of Him daily by the upholding strength of His right hand, to the intent that we will enjoy Him more and more, being ever positioned to be ready recipients of the fullness of His grace.
However, dearly beloved, I beg you by the mercies of our living God that you remember always that we are all pilgrims here earth. Do not loose the sight of God, when the going is good and neither looses His sight when the going gets bad. It will happen in an instant, in a split second at the sound of the last trumpet. Indeed, that trumpet will sound, and then the dead will come back to life. They will be changed so that they can live forever – 1 Cor. 15:52 (God’s word® translation, © 1995) (emphasis is mine).
Constantly remembering that we are pilgrims here on earth will draw our minds closely to God, who is the author of life. This in turn will shake away all life excesses and guarantee our readiness to be changed so that we can live forever with God at the sound of the last trumpet!
Shalom.

Years in U.I. and IVCU
I was in IVCU between 1992-1997 and Oh!! Those I would say were wonderful days in my life.
Being a single sister then, I had more time for the things of the Lord. I grew up in Foursquare Gospel church in Surulere, Lagos and so when it was time to leave Lagos and go to further my education in Ibadan, I asked my sister which fellowship she thought had the same doctrines with those of Foursquare churches and she mentioned SCM and IVCU.
On getting into U.I, I attended the IVCU fellowship only once and decided to stick with them. I was so blessed that day and I made up my mind to be a part of it. I waited for a while though before I joined the IVCU choir. I wanted to be very sure of where the Lord wanted me to be. After about three months of been a part of the fellowship, I joined the choir but I was on probation for some months again. I underwent an interview before joining and after some months, I was accepted finally into the choir. During this process of waiting, I learned patience and endurance. After I joined, I saw that the idea that most people have about choir members of being lukewarm about God was so wrong. We used to go for retreats and fast sometimes for nothing less than 3 days dry. We also studied the word of God so much. I particularly remember the times when Bro Wole Ariyo and Bro Gabriel were our leaders. They were on fire for God and their zeal really rubbed off on me.
I learned to also always wait on the lord to hear from Him concerning personal things in my life. The fellowship in general also taught me a lot. There were many seasoned ministers of God that were invited on both Wednesdays and some Sundays and they used to bless me. I also remember my lecturer Dr.Farombi being invited to preach to us once. He really blessed my heart and also learned from his ministration never to be complacent about the things of God. Most of the invited ministers had great zeal for the Lord and I grabbed a lot from them too.
IVCU was also a place where I made lots of friends that I am still in touch with till today. Some of them are Sis Lolade Babalola (nee Adebanji), Lade Olomola (nee Oke), Price Ikenna Nsofor, Kola Ajayi and so many others that time and space will not permit me to. God bless the founders of IVCU because they have really been used to instill a tenacious belief of God in me.
Baby Announcement: Tanitoluwa Oreoluwa David – Oguntayo
The family of Oguntayo are blessed with a baby boy on 01/19/12. Tanitoluwa Oreoluwa David. He is 10 pounds and 21 inches long. To God be the glory…

Meet & Greet – Brampton, Canada – Nov 12, 2011
To God be the glory, we had the first “Meet & Greet” event in Canada on Saturday, November 12, 2011. It was a glorious time in the presence of the Lord. Brethren came from various parts of Southern Ontario, Canada. IVCUAF members in attendance include Sis Toyin Adebiyi (Nee Obasa) from Whitby, Bro Niyi Oduntan also from Whitby, Sis Doyin Oyenuga (Nee Fadare) from Burlington, Sis Yemisi Ogunjimi (Oluyomi) from Etobicoke, the coordinator and host of the event, Bro Adeoye Adegorite from Brampton and Bro Mike Araba, the coordinator for IVCUAF-North America Chapter who drove all the way from Cleveland, Ohio, USA (about 7 hours drive) to fellowship with the Canadian brethren on this first-of-its-kind event in Canada.
Major highlights of the program include refreshing worship time led by Sis Toyin Adebiyi, special ministration in songs by Sis Yemisi Ogunjimi (a recording gospel artist), amazing testimonies of divine healing and God’s faithfulness by Bro. Niyi Oduntan & Sis Doyin Oyenuga and seasoned word from the Lord shared by Bro Michael Araba. Some brethren also participated via the internet through live streaming of the event. Bro Busuyi Adebiyi joined us online from Lagos, Nigeria. Sis Siyanbola connected from Baton Rouge, Lousiana, Sis. Layide – State College, Pennsylvania.
Taking his text from Gen 11:31 for his short exhortation, Bro Mike admonished the brethren to see their being in North America as God ordained plan with a divine purpose, which is beyond just the mere economic reasons. He also used the opportunity to underscore the vision of the North America chapter and the desire to hold more of this type of event in other parts of Canada and the US. The next target is to have this in Calgary, Alberta (Canada) in order to cover that region of North America.

Meet & Greet in Baltimore, Maryland – Oct 29.2011
It was a great, refreshing and highly nostalgic time for us that Saturday afternoon when we got together just to re-unite after several years of leaving the great IVCU Fellowship. Over the years, many things had happened, things like marriages, raising families, relocation abroad and of course getting more matured ( not aging), some now have few grey hairs but the cord that binds us together remain as strong as ever. No matter the year you graduated, you always belong as long as you went through the one and only IVCU which to us was a wonderful preparatory ground for life in the wild wide world.
The atmosphere was that of fun and fond memories of years we spent on campus, everyone had a story to tell and lessons learnt were recounted and the relevance of such lessons to our various present callings now becoming obvious. We had in attendance brethren from Maryland and New Jersey and we hope to have better representation at subsequent meetings.
The issue of giving back to our great fellowship was discussed and we were so much challenged by the brethren from Seed Chest. The seed Chest is made up of brethren who have been burdened by the Lord to help Christian Fellowships back home and guess what, they chose our own IVCU as the starting point.
The meeting was rounded off with sumptuous dinner just like those Love Feasts we used to have back then.
It is a privilege to belong to the great IVCU alumni and we hope other members out there will endeavor to join hands with us, so we can spread the fun to everyone.

Titbits of My UI/IVCU Experience
When I arrived in UI in the summer of 1980, I was unprepared for what I witnessed. I had completed one year as Physics major at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and transferred to UI to study Mechanical Engineering. What surprised me most was the way the Christians went around boldly on campus. Those were the days in the eastern part of Nigeria where I came from, it was a taboo for any born again woman to wear jewelry not to talk of makeup. I was surprised to see that most of the sisters wore ear rings and some had makeups. I noticed especially Bimbo Williams ( later Bimbo Odukoya) wearing make up but I found that she thoroughly knew the Lord and was one of the most fervent sisters I knew on campus.
That year, we had Mission 80, an evangelistic campus outreach of IVCU and it was a blast. We started with a carnival, a tractor drawn carriage carried sisters and brothers to all the halls of residence to drum up advertisement for the program. There was a lot of zeal on the part of these students.
Annually, we had 2 outreaches, Mission and Explo UI. They typically were organized over weekends.
IVCU meetings were on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons at the Chapel of Resurrection. These meetings looking back were more like bible school. Pastors with differing theological bents were invited to sharpen and broaden the basis of foundational beliefs. The executives also took part in preaching in these meetings. The un-exhaustive list of invited ministers included Late Bishop Benson Idahosa, Pastor Adegboye, then at the University of Lagos, Pastor Kumuyi, Brother Emiko, Brother Yemi Ayodele, Pa Elton, Apostle Geoffrey Numbere, Pastor John Okposia, Austin Ukachi, Joseph Olaruwaju, Emeka Nwankpa, Dr Adesogun. The meetings were very charismatic in nature.
The prayer band when Femi Agiri became leader was very influential. The “woods” became a place you must be seen if you are “spiritual”.
We had only IVCU and SCM as the Christian organizations until I think 1982 or 1983 when the deeper life started their own fellowship.
My 4 years in UI was a GREAT training ground spiritually. We were allowed to hold differing opinions and argued our beliefs. No wonder most of the alumni went out to be Christian leaders all over the world.
I cannot thank God enough for the privilege of being a part of that movement in UI.
2010 Reunion / 50th Anniversary
The 2010 reunion / 50th anniversary of the IVCU will hold by God’s grace from 19th – 21st November, 2010. Our speakers are Bro. Gbile Akanni and Bro. Sunday Isehunwa. The theme is: Redeeming the Time
IVCU is 50
I congratulate all IVCU brethren (both present and past brethren) for the 50th anniversary of the fellowship. I also want to appreciate the president and other executive members of IVCUAF and all the event committies for all their effort on the coming programme. I pray that every need shall be met and our testimonies shall abound. God bless you all. Abimbola Okegbile. Rep of Ireland
